Sudden Deaths to Teen Athletes Raise Concerns

Pic via cbsnews.com

This year, there has been an alarming number of headline deaths to student athletes. The most publicized story being the sudden death of Wes Leonard, the highschool basketball player from Michigan who went into cardiac arrest on the court just moments after hitting a game winning shot. His story, along with Matthew Hammerdofer and Wes Leonard's should be used as an example for other athletic programs accross the nation. Me and Jose discussed this issue and we agree that it is on the administrators and not the students or parents who determine if the student can play. Health screening should be tightened up to prevent tragedies like this from occurring. Should a student be allowed to play a sport if he/she has a serious health issue? Check our youtube channel at the bottom of the page to view Wes Leonards story.
